Dr. Timothy Springer is an Immunologist best known for pioneering work in discovery of the first integrins and intercellular adhesion molecules (ICAMs) and their function in the immune system. Additional research interest has expanded to include malaria, transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) signaling molecules, and von Willebrand factor. Dr. Springer is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. University of California, Berkeley, a PhD in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Harvard University.
